About the Artist
My name is Elizabeth O'Neil Lowry. I grew up in Maine with a pen in my hand, always drawing. I knew from an early age that I wanted to be an artist, and majored in illustration in college, but I listened to the voices of reason around me and pursued careers in other fields.
After several years in the restaurant business, and then a dozen in retail as a makeup artist, I still find the need to create art. So I started listening to the voices of inspiration rather than reason, left the retail industry, and restarted my career as an artist. I have always loved painting portraits of people, but I wanted to do something a little different, so I went in another direction, and started painting portraits of houses.
Every home provides a special glimpse into the character of its inhabitants because of all the history, love, and work that goes into it. Our personalities show through in surprising ways. I hope you are inspired by what you see here and will give me the opportunity to put your house on paper.

Other than drawing and painting, one of the things that I enjoy most is teaching both of those skills to adults here in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
